POSITION: Library Assistant
DESCRIPTION: The Library Assistant is responsible for assisting the library user with library services, the use of the collection and equipment, and for supervising and instructing library staff and volunteers. The Library Assistant performs circulation duties and assists the Branch Manager in other activities that support library services. This position is supervised by the Branch Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Library Assistant is primarily responsible for directly assisting the library user and supervising and training library staff. Excellent communication and organizational skills are desirable and the ability to multi-task in a rapidly changing library environment.
SALARY: The starting salary for a Library Assistant is $24,093 per year.
QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Library/supervisory experience are preferred plus a minimum of two years of working with the public. This is a full-time benefited position requiring some evening hours and Saturdays plus meetings and workshops. Candidates must have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. A successful criminal background investigation is required.

POSITION: Children's Programmer
LOCATION: Atlee Branch Library (8-10 hours a week)
PAY RATE: $10.54/hour.
DESCRIPTION: The Pamunkey Regional Library is looking for someone to bring their creative energy to the above branches in planning and conducting programs for children and teens. Duties of the position include providing storytimes and special programs for children plus attending meetings, workshops, and community events. Candidates should enjoy working with youth, have experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, and a flexible schedule. Work hours may include days, evenings and/or Saturdays. High school graduate or equivalent required; some college preferred.
