Author Meet & Greet: Kristen Green

Friday, June 10, Noon - 1:00 p.m.

Award-winning journalist Kristen Green will discuss her book, Something Must Be Done about Prince Edward County.  Ms. Green witnessed first-hand segregation in her school and community and later published numerous articles about civil rights and education in local newspapers.

Hosted by the Atlee Branch Library Book Club and the Friends of the Atlee Library.  Copies of Something Must Be Done about Prince Edward County will be available for purchase.

 

Learn to Draw

Saturday June 11 and June 18, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Judy Thomas, Art in the Garden instructor at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, will teach you how to draw in pencil using depth, line, shading, and composition. This is a two-part class.  The next meeting is Saturday, June 18. Call the library to sign up.

Pajama Storytime

Monday, June 13, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

All ages. Join us for a high energy movement and music program led by instructors from The Dance Company. Audience participation is encouraged for fun and fitness.

Walk on the wild side with Zoo Pro Adventures! Learn about interesting animals, what makes them special, and where they live. Meet and greet lots of furry and scaly friends.

 

Sticky Note Mural

Thursday, June 30, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Ages 11-18. Create a mural with sticky notes loaded with your favorite quotes, mottos, or doodles.

Jesse Joyner, Juggler

Friday, July 8, 1:30 p.m.

Everyone will enjoy Jesse's highly skilled performance full of wonderful surprises and humor. He juggles! He rides a unicycle! He juggles while riding a unicycle! It's a balancing act you have to see to believe.

 

Ink It!

Saturday, July 9 and July 16, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Ages 18 to adult.  Learn how to draw in pen & ink with Celeste Johnston, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts faculty member and "Arts in the Garden" instructor. This is a two-part class.  Space is limited.  Call or visit the library to sign up.
