PageTurners Book Club

meets every third Thursday, 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. (Aug. 17, Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, and Dec. 21)

Atlee Branch Library Book Club

meets every second Friday, Noon - 2:00 p.m. (Aug. 11, Sept. 8, Oct. 13, Nov. 10, and Dec. 8)

Chickahominy Colored Pencil Artists

meets on the following Fridays of each month, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Aug. 11, Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, and Dec. 1)

Ages 18 & up.  Join the Chickahominy Colored Pencil Artists at a monthly meeting to share ideas, techniques and skills in using colored pencils. Bring your own individual supplies and projects and enjoy a time to sketch and make new friends. This is not an instructional class.

 

Fun & Games

meets every first Wednesday of the month, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. (Aug. 2, Sept. 6, Oct. 4, Nov. 1, and Dec. 6)

Ages 18 & up. Meet up with friends and have a great time with card and board games.

Outlandish Short Stories

September 1-30, during library hours

Ages 11-18. Share your outlandish short story with the community and get a chance to win!  Submissions will be accepted September 1-30.  Vote for your favorite story between October 1-13! Call or visit the library for contest rules.

 

Play Giant Chess!

Thursday, September 7, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Ages 7 & up.  Learn how to play chess with life-size chess pieces with members of the Mechanicsville Chess Club who can show you the best moves.  Call or visit the library to sign up.

Pajama Storytime

Monday, September 11, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Bring your favorite snuggly friend for a special evening Storytime.  Wear your PJs and slippers, too!

Computer Basics Class

Tuesday, September 12, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Covers beginning computer skills like finding out about the parts of a computer, learning how to use a mouse, beginning to explore & search the Internet, and how to create and save documents with Microsoft Word 2010. Call 804-559-0654 or visit the library to sign up for this class.

 

Teen Crafting & Gaming Circle: Mind Tricks Edition

Thursday, September 14, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.

Ages 11-18. Bring your favorite crafts to work on and try out our craft of the month.  Play Wii games with your friends, too!  Sign-ups required!

"Mad Hatter" Tea Party & Movie

Saturday, September 23, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Ages 3 and up. Dress up and join us for the zaniest tea party in town, with stories, crafts, and games! We'll wrap it all up with a great all ages movie.

Paws to READ

Tuesday, September 26, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Is your child a reluctant reader?  Sign them up for a 20 minute session reading to Chrissie, a Paws to READ reading education assistance dog.  Call or visit the branch to sign up.

Thursday, September 28, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Ages 18 & up. Bring your materials and/or existing project.  Share new craft ideas and find out the "tip of the month."  We'll have plenty of inspirational crafting magazines and books full of ideas.
